Since the beginning of this year, China's textile industry has achieved steady growth

At the recently held 2025 Tianmen Clothing E-commerce Industry Conference, Xia Lingmin, Secretary General of the China Textile Industry Federation, stated that in the face of the complex and ever-changing global economic and trade environment, China's textile industry has adopted a firm attitude of "fearlessness of difficulties and courage to innovate", facing the challenges of the international market. With the support of national macro policies, the entire industry has achieved a stable growth trend.

Data shows that from January to May, major economic indicators such as production, domestic sales, exports, and investment in the textile industry achieved growth, with overall performance better than expected, and the economic operation was basically stable. The industrial added value of textile enterprises above designated size in China increased by 3.4% year-on-year; The retail sales of clothing, shoes, hats, and needle textiles above designated size increased by 3.3% year-on-year, with a growth rate 1.3 percentage points faster than the same period last year; The growth rate of online retail channels shows signs of continuous improvement, with a year-on-year increase of 1.2% in the retail sales of clothing products nationwide from January to May; The total export value of textiles and clothing increased by 1%; The completed amount of fixed assets investment in the textile industry, clothing industry and chemical fiber industry increased by 15.1%, 27.7% and 16.4% year on year respectively, achieving rapid growth.

Under the overall stability of the industry supply side and the strengthened support of the national "dual" and "two new" policies to expand the scope, backbone enterprises are accelerating the transformation and upgrading towards high-end, intelligent, and green industries. Xia Lingmin stated that this year is the explosive year of artificial intelligence deeply empowering thousands of industries. The China Textile Federation is actively exploring new paths for the integration of AI technology with the textile and clothing industry. Since the beginning of the year, the Circulation Branch has conducted field research in Hangzhou, Guangzhou, Puyuan, Keqiao, Changshu, Qingdao and other places to comprehensively understand the application practice and effectiveness of AI technology in the textile and clothing industry.

A group of leading digital technology enterprises in the textile and clothing industry are using technological innovation as an engine to break through the forefront of AI and industry integration. In the future, with the accelerated iteration of artificial intelligence technology, the textile industry will enter a new stage of "AI+industry" practice, and more new technological tools, new research and development achievements, and new application scenarios urgently need to be explored and expanded.
